Housing-

  • Long Term Care (LTC) Programs provide a range of residential and day services, which are mainly provided to seniors and older adults with disabilities. Nursing Homes are publicly funded facilities that offer care to people who need moderate to total assistance with daily functioning and daily on-site nursing care (three hours or more daily).
  • Personal Care Homes (PCH) provide care to adults needing residential assistance. Personal Care Homes are for-profit businesses that generally provide a lower level of nursing and personal care to residents as compared to Nursing homes (Long Term Care Facilities).
  • Retirement Living Options offer independent living, assisted living, and respite accommodation.

Three long-term care options are available to individuals depending on their care needs:

  • Protective Community Residences
Admission to long-term care facilities is taken care of by the office of placement services through a single-entry system.
Questions often asked by people who are thinking of moving into a Long Term Care Facility (Nursing Home) or Personal Care Homes (owned by private businesses). Nursing homes generally provide higher level of nursing and personal care to residents  
Labrador-Grenfell Health long term care services include:
  • Regional assessment and placement
  • Recreational therapy
  • Planning and direction for long term care beds in St. Anthony, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador City, and Forteau
There is a single point of entry.
Seniors often call asking for information that will help them stay in their home or move. The government of NL funds the Regional Health Authorities to subsidize a variety of options available to eligible seniors. These residential options include: Long-Term Care [Nursing Home] Facilities and Personal Care Homes
